SENIOR ADVISOR – Governor Tim Pawlenty 2002 – 2008

Served as a senior advisor and key strategist to Governor Tim Pawlenty from his first campaign for Governor through the events of the 2008 Republican National Convention.

  • Recruited by Tim Pawlenty to be a member of the 2002 Pawlenty for Governor kitchen cabinet to develop campaign strategy and implement the $2 million fundraising plan for the campaign. 
  • Senior Advisor to Governor-Elect Tim Pawlenty’s transition team with the primary responsibility for searching, recruiting, and developing applicants for appointment as the Commissioners of Revenue, Commerce, Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and the Iron Range Resources Agency.
  • Special Advisor to the Governor in the Office of Governor Tim Pawlenty. Advised the Governor and senior staff on legislative strategy, communications and gubernatorial appointments. Advised the Governor and senior staff on development of the 2006-2007 $30 billion state budget. Prepared an analysis of office operations and made recommendations to the Governor for staff reorganization.
  • Chaired the 2006 Pawlenty for Governor Political Advisory Group which oversaw Governor Pawlenty’s successful 2006 re-election campaign. Advised on the hiring of campaign staff, the development of the $4 million fundraising effort, the management of the campaign budget and cash flow, the implementation of the media campaign, the compliance with all campaign legal and accounting requirements, and the organization of the campaign volunteer operation. Senior advisor designated to travel with the Governor during the final 6 weeks of the campaign.
  •  Advised the Governor on the campaign committee’s interim activities through 2008 including his participation and responsibilities as the host of the 2008 Republican National Convention.
